Description
This a portion of the front above the doorway to the Church of the Little Flower, in Coral Gables, Florida, which was named in honor of Saint Thse of Lisieux, who was also known as "The Little Flower".
This church was contructed in 1926 at the same time as the Biltmore Hotel, all fiting into George Merrick's plan and vision for his "City Beautiful".
Coral Gables was envisioned by George Merrick to be the "Mediterranean Riviera" and draw the wealthy and prominent in the 1920's.
See other examples of Coral Gables architecture at my Coral Gables gallery which includes the Alhambra Water Tower and the Country Club of Coral Gables, among others.
