Description
Although it is similar to the yucca, the perenial Red Yucca (Hesperaloe Parvifolia) is not actually a yucca and is in the agave family. Its small tubular pinkish-orange (or maybe rose-coral) flowers grow in a cluster along the top of a long thin stalk and are good in hot dry climates but can tolerate moderate cold as well. They are native of the southwest from Texas through Arizona to northern Mexico.
This Red Yucca image was taken at the Shops at La Cantera in northwest San Antonio.
